Life EMS provides high quality ambulance service in Kent County, Ottawa County, Kalamazoo & Portage, Ionia County, Newaygo County, Lake County, and Mason County in central and west Michigan. These communities provide the cultural and social benefits of a large metropolitan city along with the ability to live in safe, quiet neighborhoods or even the rural countryside.

Join the team that has proven its industry leadership by being among the first fully accredited ambulance providers in the nation. Life EMS of Grand Rapids and Life EMS of Kalamazoo were two of just seventeen ambulance services from across the country to be the first to successfully complete the exhaustive accreditation review process. Enjoy the practice of prehospital care in this professionally progressive environment within some of the leading EMS systems anywhere.

Our fleet of all modular ambulances is equipped and maintained to the highest standards in the industry. All of our ambulances are fully advanced life support (ALS) equipped. All Life EMS vehicles are equipped with extra features including AM/FM stereos, cloth high-back captain's chairs, tilt steering, and cruise control- as part of their "crew-friendly features."

We provide, as west Michigan's most complete ambulance service, neonatal and mobile I.C.U. transports using some of the most sophisticated vehicles in the country. Opportunities are available for medics to take on the added responsibility of these specialty transport environments. Wheelchair transports for the physically challenged are an additional service provided by our Mobility Transport Division.

Full time medics have the opportunity to "bid" for schedule preference every six months. A wide range of daily shift schedules including 9, 11.5, 12 and 24 hours are available. Schedules range from 3 to 5 day work-weeks for the non-24 shifts and 24 on/48 off schedules for the 24-hour shifts. This format provides our paramedics with many scheduling possibilities for maximum flexibility to adapt to personal and family lifestyles.
